Paged at 11:47 hrs by Dublin Coastguard to assist the Gardai in the search for a missing person. Rescue 117 (rescue helicopter) had located a car on the seabed off the pier at Kilmore Quay. The lifeboat provided support to a local diver who searched the car and recovered the casuality from it. The casualty was taken aboard the lifeboat and brought ashore. The RNLI lifeboat station at Kilmore Quay would like to offer our sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased. May he rest in peace.

Paged at 09:08 hrs by Dublin Coastguard to a small fishing vessel with two people on board who's engine had stopped and the boat had drifted on to Selskar rock(1.25 miles east of fethard), when the RNLB Killarney arrived on scene the vessel was hard aground on Selskar rock and Fethard inshore lifeboat had taken the two crew off the vessel. As the tide was falling a decision was made to wait until the evening tide to try and refloat the vessel. Both lifeboats returned to the grounded vessel in the evening as the tide was rising. Fethard lifeboat succeeded in towing the vessel off the rock while Kilmore Quay lifeboat stoodby with it's salvage pump in case it was needed, thankfully its was not required as the vessel had sustained no damage. The operation was complete by 17:30 Hrs and was carried out in snow showers and sub-zero temperatures.

Paged at 17:01 hrs by Dublin Coastguard to take over the tow of a 35 metre Beam Trawler that had a fouled propeller and had been towed from the fishing grounds by another trawler. Picked the tow up one mile North of the Great Saltee island and towed the vessel into the harbour and berthed it alongside.

Paged at 10:01 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded to a 30 foot potter with 2 persons on board that had suffered machinery failure in position 52˚ 04’ N ; 006˚ 29’ W (7 Miles SSE of Kilmore Quay). Towed the vessel back to K.Q.

Paged at 11:00 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded to a 22 foot Cabin cruiser with 2 persons on board that had suffered machinery failure 3 Miles SSW of Carnesore point. Towed the vessel back to K.Q.

Paged at 06:12 hrs by Dublin Coastguard to launch to a 75 foot Stern trawler with 4 persons on board that was having problems with its main engine, the vessel had made its way to the North side of the Saltee islands where the lifeboat picked up the tow and brought the vessel into the harbour and berthed it alongside.

Paged at 16:31hrs by Dublin Coastguard and launched to a 50 foot beamer with 2 persons on board. The vessel was half a mile Northwest of the Saltee Islands when the main Engine stopped. When the Lifeboat arrived on scene the vessel had its main Engine running again. The fishing vessel continued to sea and the lifeboat returned to Station.

Kilmore Quay's new Tamar class lifeboat got it's first shout today when Dublin coastguard paged the crew at 09:11 hrs to launch to a 24 foot potter with 2 persons on board a mile to the south west of Blackrock. The lifeboat was on scene in 12 minutes and took the fishing vessel under tow into Kilmore Quay harbour.

Paged at 12:36hrs by Dublin Coastguard and launched to a local potter which had suffered engine failure 3 miles to the SSE of the Station with 2 persons on board. Towed the vessel back to K.Q.
Kilmore Quay's new Tamar RNLB "Killarney" arrived home on Wednesday the 13th October 2010 @ 17:00 Hrs.

Paged at 20:02hrs by Dublin Coastguard and launched to search for 2 persons in a 15 foot punt that were reported overdue in the Bag'n'bun area having launched from Fethard early in the day. The punt arrived back into fethard around 20:30 hrs and the search was called off.

Paged at 20:46hrs by Dublin Coastguard and launched to search for 2 kayakers that were reported overdue in the Bag'n'bun area. On route to the Search area both kayakers were found safe and well by Fethard lifeboat who were also tasked along with the Coastguard helicopter from Waterford.

Tamar training got under way this month when the Coxwain, 2nd mechanic and 3 navigators were in poole for a weeks training. The trip took in a run to the Channel islands where the lads bumped into a repoter from the local press.The Guernsey Press

Paged at 18:53 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded to a 28 foot pleasure craft with 3 persons on board that had suffered electrical failure and was unable to start its engine. The vessel was located half a mile offshore at Rostoonstown, 5.5 miles to the East of the Station. Towed the vessel back to K.Q.

Preparations for the Stations Open Day were interrupted when Dublin Coastguard paged at 18:38 Hrs, a 38 foot Swedish yacht with 3 persons on board had fouled its propeller between Black rock and Carnesore point. Freed the yacht and towed the it back to K.Q.

Paged again at 19:10 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded to a RIB with 2 P.O.B located 3/4 of a mile North of the Saltee Sound. Towed the vessel back to K.Q.

Kilmore Quay's new Tamar class lifeboat underwent its self-righting trails at Babcock marine in Plymouth. The trails were successful and we are looking at an ETA in Kilmore Quay for mid October.

Paged at 14:06 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded in dense fog to a 26 foot yacht with 1 person on board in the vicinity of Carnsore Pt. While on passage from Wexford Harbour to Kilmore Quay the yacht had fouled its prop. A crewman from the Lifeboat was put aboard the yacht and it was towed back to K.Q.

Paged at 20:16 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded in dense fog to a 30 foot yacht with 3 persons on board. The yacht was becalmed in a position .75 of a mile South of the "Brandies Rocks". The Yacht was without a motor and was towed back to K.Q.

Paged at 06:25 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded to the Rosslare Harbour area to join a search for a missing fisherman. The fishermans body was recorvered from the Sea at Greenore Pt around 11:00 hrs. Kilmore Quay lifeboat was stood down and returned Station.

Paged at 14:53 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded to a 30 foot Charter boat with 5 persons on board. It had suffered mechanical failure while on a fishing trip to the East of Kilmore Quay. Towed the vessel back to K.Q. (that fellow on the bow looks familiar!!)

Paged at 13:46 hrs by Dublin Coastguard and proceeded to a 26 foot yacht that had suffered engine failure at Makestone on the South side of the Great Saltee Island with 1 person on board. Put 2 lifeboat crew aboard the yacht and got a tow underway. After passing through "The Sound" the engine was restarted and the tow disconnected. The yacht headed for Waterford and the Lifeboat returned to Station.

Paged at 12:19 hrs and launched to 45 foot cabin cruiser with two persons on board, which had lost power to the East of the Little Saltee. When the Lifeboat arrived on scene power was restored, so the Lifeboat escorted the vessel back to the marina in Kilmore Quay.

Paged at 15:18 hrs and launched to participate in a major air and sea search for a canoeist reported missing in adverse weather conditions off Slade to the East of Hook Head. The canoeist was located 4.5 miles offshore by Rescue Helicopter 117 and transfered to Waterford Regional Hospital. Kilmore Quay lifeboat was stood down and returned Station.
